UMB acquires Marquette Financial Cos. for $182M in stock

UMB Financial Corp. announced that it signed an agreement to acquire Marquette Financial Cos. in an all stock transaction worth about $182.5 million.

The deal gives Marquette Financial's ownership family a 7 percent stake in Kansas City-based UMB.

It gives them the second-largest stake in UMB, behind only UMB Financial Chairman Mariner Kemper, who controls voting in an 11.58 percent stake in the company, according to the Kansas City Business Journal.

Marquette Financial Cos. is a $1.3 billion-asset financial services company that owns Meridian Bank, which has branches in Arizona and Texas.
