Craig and Cathy Rankin opened a Jersey Mike’s Subs franchise store Aug. 20 at Plaza Towers Center, 1903 S. Glenstone Ave., space previously occupied by Lenny’s Sub Shop. Organized under JM Ozarks LLC, the husband-and-wife franchisees invested roughly $350,000 to launch the sandwich shop, one of three planned, said Craig Rankin, a former Las Vegas attorney for national law firm Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard & Smith LLP. The couple paid a lump sum of $50,000 to the Manasquan, N.J.-based franchisor for the three-store deal, which calls for a second in early 2015 and the third by 2016. Leased from Plaza Towers LLC for $3,300 per month, Jersey Mike’s Subs specializes in fresh-sliced meats and produce, as well as daily baked breads. Hood-Rich Architecture
Hood-Rich Inc. is undergoing a brand shift to Hood-Rich Architecture as part of its Aug. 4 headquarters move to 400 South Ave., Ste. 300. Partner and Vice President Larry Parke said Hood-Rich relocated to the former SignalPoint Asset Management office after roughly 45 years at 801 S. Glenstone Ave. The owners were looking for a modern, urban setting, he said, and Hood-Rich partner Billy Kimmons previously designed the South Avenue digs. Parke said the firm signed a three-year lease with Walnut & South LLC and has an option to extend through years four and five. The company pays $2,800 per month for the third-floor space above 3 Corner Bar & Grille. Connected to the branding change, Parke said Hood-Rich is providing architecture, as well as interior and graphic design services, but it is no longer offering mechanical and electrical design or surveying. Miller & Associates CPAs and Advisors LLC
Seven professionals from KPM CPAs PC left the firm in June to form Miller & Associates CPAs and Advisors LLC. Offering individuals and small to midsize businesses accounting, tax, investment and professional consulting services, the firm opened a temporary office June 26 in space leased in the R.B. Murray Co. building at 2225 S. Blackman Road. Miller & Associates is constructing a permanent office just to the south in the TerraGreen Office Park with an anticipated completion date of late December, said Julie Miller, a human resources professional with the firm and one of six owners. Miller’s husband, Bill, is one of the certified public accountants on board, along with Crystal Adkins, Amy Garner, Erin Norris and Lisa Holt, as well as client service associate Becky Fletcher.
