Attorney David Agee’s work with Husch Blackwell LLP, where he is an equity partner, has garnered national attention on more than one occasion.
Agee has been listed among The Best Lawyers in America in the corporate law category by U.S. News & World Report 2007–11. His name also can be found among Missouri and Kansas Super Lawyers for business and corporate law in 2005 and 2008–11.
The majority of Agee’s practice falls in the categories of corporate, transactional and commercial law, which includes mergers and acquisitions, commercial transactions, business planning and strategies, real estate and international transactions for local, national and international clients. He also is the founder and chairman of the firm’s aviation practice group. He recently was on the team of attorneys and professionals that helped American Airlines negotiate a plan to potentially purchase more than 900 new airplanes – a deal with a price tag of $38.5 billion.
Despite his demanding professional schedule, Agee is active as a community volunteer and leader, currently chairing the board of the city of Springfield Enhanced Enterprise Zone. Agee is also a current member and former president of the Ozark Empire Fair Board of Directors. He has been a member of Springfield Southeast Rotary Club since 1993 and is a past chairman of Ronald McDonald House Charities.
He says his involvement with those organizations and others has taught valuable lessons.
“I have learned that one must at times avoid the temptation to advocate desired positions too strongly, but allow others the time and opportunity to work through the problem and take ownership of and buy-in to the solution,” Agee says.
Agee served on the board of directors of Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce 1998–03, and as chairman in 2002, when he was involved with the launch of the Partnership for Prosperity Capital Campaign.
“This first-time effort, directly managed by the chamber’s affiliate, the Springfield Business Development Corp., was extraordinarily successful during a challenging post-9/11 period, raising approximately $1.8 million for implementation of a strategic plan to drive capital investment and job growth in our community,” Agee says.
Agee also has seized the opportunity to influence the success of others.
“As a partner of my law firm, I have been involved in formal and informal mentoring programs of associates and partners, (and for) numerous college and law school runners and clerks … many of whom are successful practicing attorneys today,” he says.
