2010 Salute to Health Care: Meet the Judges

Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce’s Salute to Health Care honorees are chosen by a chamber committee. The Health Care Champions honorees are chosen for Springfield Business Journal by an independent panel of five judges. The 2010 judges are:

Ron Carrier

Ron Carrier is chief counsel and manager for the  southwest region of the Missouri Attorney General’s Office in Springfield. He maintains an active trial practice in consumer fraud and criminal prosecution. He has received numerous awards, including the Dr. John P. Ferguson Award for Child Advocacy from The Child Advocacy Center and the Roosevelt Award from the Greene County Drug Court.

Paula Goodin

Paula Goodin is vice president of commercial and personal lines and life and health manager at Barker-Phillips-Jackson Inc., an independent insurance agency. She manages all service personnel and handles information technology for the company. Goodin also serves as secretary and treasurer on BPJ’s board of directors. She holds the certified insurance counselor and certified insurance service representative designations.

Gary E. Maddox

Gary E. Maddox is executive director of Southwest Center for Independent Living, which provides services and advocacy for people with disabilities. He is responsible for overall operations, including strategic planning, personnel, budgets and community outreach. He has a bachelor’s in business administration from Madison University and has been appointed by two governors to serve on the Missouri Statewide Independent Living Council.

Carmen Parker-Bradshaw

Carmen Parker-Bradshaw is executive director of The Health Commission, a nonprofit that aims to improve health care and access to care in the Ozarks. Parker-Bradshaw is a 2010 Springfield Business Journal 40 Under 40 honoree. She holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from Radford University, Radford, Va.; a bachelor’s in government from Evangel University; and a master’s in public administration/health care administration and policy from Missouri State University.

Rusty Worley

Rusty Worley is executive director of Urban Districts Alliance. UDA focuses on preserving and strengthening Springfield’s historic center city districts – downtown, Walnut Street and Commercial Street – and serves as an umbrella organization for eight other entities, including the Downtown Springfield Community Improvement District. In July, Worley received Springfield Business Journal’s inaugural Business Advocate of the Year award.[[In-content Ad]]
