417 Pizza

Corey and Mary Craven opened 417 Pizza on Oct. 16 at 4560 S. Campbell Ave., Ste. G, in the Shadowood Plaza. Corey Craven said he previously owned Cravin' Pizza in Springfield and sold it 10 years ago. His new venture, 417 Pizza, offers a simplified menu of thin-crust pizza and salad made with fresh ingredients and without added sugar or additives, Craven said. One example is the Grecian pizza, which, according to www.417pizza.com, features spinach, feta cheese, tomatoes, kalamata olives, red onions and chicken. Breadsticks and chicken wings will be added as appetizers, said Craven, who is pursing a beer and wine license for the 60-seat restaurant that features big-screen TVs. 417 Pizza will offer delivery beginning Dec. 1 through a contract with another startup, Lightning Fast Delivery. Craven estimates that startup costs for the health-conscious and family-friendly restaurant, which employs 15, were approximately $100,000. Hours: 11 a.m.-9 p.m. daily. Phone: (417) 887-4417.

Nonna's Italian American Café

Nonna's Italian American Café, 306 South Ave., has changed hands. Shawn Kraft bought the downtown restaurant Nov. 2 for an undisclosed price through his company, Captain's Quarters LLC. The Kingsley Group brokered the deal. According to www.nonnascafe.com, Nonna's menu is traditional Italian-American and includes soups, salads, pastas and meat dishes. It also offers catering and event-planning services. Mary Faucett founded the restaurant and sold it in May 2006 to Tim Caldwell, Marty Almaraz, and Craig and Julia Anderson for an undisclosed price. Kraft said he purchased the restaurant from the Andersons, and he has no changes in store. Julia Anderson will continue to run the kitchen, and the 25-to-30-person staff will remain intact, Kraft said. Hours: 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon-9 p.m. Sunday. Phone: (417) 831-1222.
