Michael Brown’s parents on Thursday filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the city of Ferguson, former police officer Darren Wilson and former police chief Thomas Jackson in connection with Brown’s August death, which sparked widespread protests and unrest.
According to the St. Louis Business Journal, the
suit claims Brown was fleeing Wilson before turning around and raising his hands in a "nonthreatening manner."
A St. Louis County jury declined to charge Wilson, and a U.S. Justice Department inquiry found no evidence to disprove Wilson's stated belief that he feared for his safety.
