No. 1 cause of bad work-life balance?

Posted online
Short answer: Bad bosses. According to a survey from Workfront and reported by CNNMoney, the No. 1 reason people report their work/life balance is skewed is because they have a bad boss, defined as a supervisor who is "demanding, "overbearing" and "mean."

Eighty-nine percent of respondents were most unhappy with bosses who intrude on their personal time and expect them to perform work-related duties off the clock and usually unpaid. Half said such demands caused them to miss important life events whereas 40 percent said the intrusions ruined their family time.

Tied in second place on the survey were "constantly" working on personal time and inflexibility in scheduling. Nearly 70 percent of survey respondents said employers should offer flexible work schedules, the report states. Incompetent colleagues and long commutes were tied for a distant third, according to the report.
