Official: A third of Missourians affected by Anthem cyberattack

Posted online
New information from Anthem Inc. shows one in three Missourians’ personal information was compromised in computer hackers' recent cyberattack on the health care giant, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Over 2 million Missourians were affected by the data breach, said John Huff, director of the state Department of Insurance.

The breach affects current and former Anthem policyholders dating back to 2004. Those affected can visit AnthemFacts.com to enroll in two free years of credit monitoring and ID theft repair services.

Anthem has more than 37 million members in 14 states but has said its system also had information on Blue Cross Blue Shield patients from all 50 states who had sought care in its coverage area.

The Anthem breach, one of the largest in U.S. history, could affect some 80 million customers.
