Springfield attorney joins OTC trustee board

Posted online

The Ozarks Technical Community College Board of Trustees has selected a Springfield attorney as the newest member of its six-person governing board.

Chip Sheppard of Carnahan, Evans, Cantwell & Brown PC was sworn in April 11. He replaces Dr. Maryellen Stratmann, who chose not to seek another term on the board. Sheppard has served on the board of the OTC Foundation, the school's fundraising arm, since 2011, according to a news release.

“We are pleased to have Mr. Sheppard make the transition from our OTC Foundation to the board. He brings with him a desire to make the college a better place for our students,” OTC Chancellor Hal Higdon said in the release.

Sheppard, who serves as chairman of Carnahan, Evans, Cantwell & Brown's litigate/dispute resolution practice group, is also president of the Springfield Metropolitan Bar Association.

On April 14, the school's board of trustees also swore in returning member J. Howard Fisk, owner of Fisk Limousines, the release said.

“Mr. Fisk has been a very active, involved member of the board who gives his complete attention to the needs of the college and our students,” Higdon said in the release.

Other board members are attorney Greg DeLong; Larry Snyder, owner of Larry Snyder & Co.; Jackie McKinsey, a founding trustee; and Jeff Layman, senior vice president and wealth adviser at Morgan Stanley Smith Barney.
