College of the Ozarks and Drury, Evangel and Missouri State universities have been recognized on U.S. News' & World Report's 2014 Best Colleges list.

Drury University ranked eighth on the list of the Midwest's best regional universities, a category defined by U.S. News as schools with a wide range of undergraduate programs, some master's programs and a few doctoral programs. The private university reportedly has 1,607 enrolled undergraduate students, and its 2013-14 tuition and fees are roughly $22,665. Its five most popular majors are psychology; business, management, marketing and related support services; social sciences; biological and biomedical sciences; and education, according to its U.S. News page.

Missouri State University ranked 68th among regional universities in the Midwest. The public higher education entity on 225 Springfield acres has some 17,434 enrolled undergraduate students, with in-state tuition and fees of $6,908 and out-of-state tuition and fees of $13,388.

At No. 10, College of the Ozarks ranked the highest locally among Midwest regional colleges, defined in the report as schools with a focus on undergraduate education with less than half of degrees granted in liberal arts programs. The Point Lookout-based private school accepts students largely with financial needs, who pay off their tuition and fees via on-campus work. The school has an undergraduate enrollment of 1,379, according to its profile.

Evangel University ranked 51st on the list of the best regional colleges in the Midwest. The private Assemblies of God institution has undergraduate enrollment of 1,879, with tuition and fees of $19,920.[[In-content Ad]]
