Hotelier Tim O'Reilly reopens Republic Macadoodles

Posted online
Hotelier Tim O’Reilly reopened the Republic Macadoodles store on St. Patrick’s Day.

O’Reilly formed OH-MD Republic LLC to purchase the franchise and property for around $2 million from Macadoodles franchisor Roger Gildehaus. O’Reilly Hospitality Management LLC - O’Reilly’s hotel development and management company - manages the store, he said.

“It’s very much in line with our current management structure,” O’Reilly said, pointing to the company’s two Houlihan's franchises in Springfield. “We have a great familiarity with the liquor industry.”

He said the 8,500-square-foot Irish-themed retail alcohol franchise, 1439 U.S. Highway 60 East, employs 15 and has a wine cellar that can double as event space.

The Macadoodles also serves prepared and pre-packaged food items and offers drive-thru service. O’Reilly said he’s considering adding a banquet kitchen.

“I like the business model. It works well with our company,” he said, noting royalties are 1.5 percent of revenue.

O’Reilly said he has no firm plans to open additional franchise locations.

The Republic store had operated under franchisee Greg Samuelson before shuttering in May 2012, according to Springfield Business Journal archives. Macadoodles’ headquarters is in Pineville and the company has seven stores in Missouri and Arkansas, including Springfield and Branson locations, according to its website.[[In-content Ad]]
