Springfield Business Journal last night held its 13th annual Economic Impact Awards, recognizing businesses and individuals for their roles in shaping the Springfield-area economy. About 200 people attended the event at the newly renovated Ramada Oasis Convention Center.

Longtime Evangel University President Robert Spence received the Lifetime Achievement in Business Award, which has been given to one influential individual per year since the award ceremony's inception in 2000.

Morris Oil Co. Inc. received Philanthropic Business of the Year honors, and Home Builders Association of Greater Springfield was chosen as Business Advocate of the Year.

The ceremony also honored companies based on four categories: Knights, for companies in business locally one to five years; Bishops, for companies in business locally six to 15 years; Rooks, for companies in business locally 16 to 29 years; and Kings, for companies in business locally for 30 or more years.

Phoenix Home Care Inc. took home top honors in the Knights category. Finalists were Complete Electrical Solutions LLC and Emery Sapp & Sons Inc.

In the Bishops category, Everything Kitchens LLC received the top honor, and finalists were HealthcareFirst Inc. and Olsson Associates Inc.

Marlin Network Inc. was awarded top recognition in the Rooks category. Finalists were Corporate Business Systems and Warren Davis Properties.
