Hungerthon aims for $125K goal
SBJ Staff

Ozarks Food Harvest and Clear Channel Radio's Alice 95.5 radio station tomorrow will launch the 14th annual Hungerthon with a goal of raising $125,000.

Funds raised during the four-day radio-thon will benefit Ozarks Food Harvest's backpack program, which provides food for children during the weekends when they don't have access to school lunches, according to a news release.

This year's goal is on pace with the 2011 event, when participants raised more than $125,000, allowing Ozarks Food Harvest to provide 415 children in need with six meals per weekend for the academic school year.

The nearly 30-hour event will be hosted June 1-4 by Alice 95.5's Kevin Howard and Liz Delany, who will be broadcasting outside Clear Channel at the Tower Theatre near Glenstone Avenue and Sunshine Street.

New to the event, KOLR 10 and KOZL have partnered this year with Ozarks Food Harvest and Alice 95.5 May 29-June 4 for a food drive. The "Stuff the Truck" initiative allows food donations to be made outside of the studio, 2650 E. Division St., according to the release.
