Delta Dental of Missouri named Dr. Guy Bates Jr. chairman of the board. Bates, a Springfield dentist and a co-founder of the American Student Dental Association, has served on the organization’s board for three decades, most recently as vice chairman.
Phoenix Home Care Inc. promoted Machelle Farmer to public relations manager, a newly created position for the company’s Missouri, Kansas and Colorado markets. She joined Phoenix in 2013 and holds a bachelor’s from MSU in entertainment management.
Cancer Research for the Ozarks – a cooperative venture between CoxHealth and Mercy Hospital Springfield – was awarded a $5 million National Cancer Institute Community Oncology Research grant to continue multisite cancer clinical trials and cancer care delivery research studies. CRO, also known as the Ozarks Regional Community Clinical Oncology Program, serves cancer patients across the Ozarks, St. Louis, and parts of Illinois, Kansas, Oklahoma and Arkansas.

Dr. Jonathan Gray takes on an orthopedic surgeon role at CMH’s Parkview Orthopedic Clinic. He attended medical school at the Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences and has additional training in pediatric orthopedic surgery from the University of Oklahoma Health Science Center-Oklahoma City.
Anesthesiologist Dr. Andrew Hummel attended medical school at the University of Missouri-Kansas City and is a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists.
Clinical Psychologist Dr. Rachael Swopes treats patients at CMH’s Butterfield Park Pediatrics and Southside Medical Center. She earned a doctorate in clinical psychology from the University of Tulsa.
The Missouri Board of Healing Arts elected Dr. Benjamin Lampert, a Mercy pain management physician, to serve as president. His term runs through June 30, 2015.

Mehlhorn received his medical education and completed his ophthalmology residency at the University of Tennessee-Memphis. Carver was educated at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences-Little Rock.
