Delta Dental of Missouri named Dr. Guy Bates Jr. chairman of the board. Bates, a Springfield dentist and a co-founder of the American Student Dental Association, has served on the organization’s board for three decades, most recently as vice chairman.

Phoenix Home Care Inc. promoted Machelle Farmer to public relations manager, a newly created position for the company’s Missouri, Kansas and Colorado markets. She joined Phoenix in 2013 and holds a bachelor’s from MSU in entertainment management.

Cancer Research for the Ozarks – a cooperative venture between CoxHealth and Mercy Hospital Springfield – was awarded a $5 million National Cancer Institute Community Oncology Research grant to continue multisite cancer clinical trials and cancer care delivery research studies. CRO, also known as the Ozarks Regional Community Clinical Oncology Program, serves cancer patients across the Ozarks, St. Louis, and parts of Illinois, Kansas, Oklahoma and Arkansas.

Citizens Memorial Healthcare added six physicians and a clinical psychologist to its medical staff.

Dr. Garrett Alderfer, hospitalist, is a graduate of Drury University and the University of Arkansas College of Medicine-Little Rock. He is a member of the American College of Physicians and the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Dr. Angela Collins is a board certified pediatrician who worked previously at the Family Walk-In Clinic in Mountain Grove. She holds a bachelor’s from Southwest Baptist University and doctorate from the University of Missouri-Columbia.

With 29 years of experience, Dr. Bryan Flueckiger serves as medical director of CMH’s Parkview Geriatric Wellness Center. He attended medical school at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine–Springfield and completed his psychiatric residency at the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center of Pennsylvania State University.

Dr. Jonathan Gray takes on an orthopedic surgeon role at CMH’s Parkview Orthopedic Clinic. He attended medical school at the Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences and has additional training in pediatric orthopedic surgery from the University of Oklahoma Health Science Center-Oklahoma City.

Anesthesiologist Dr. Andrew Hummel attended medical school at the University of Missouri-Kansas City and is a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists.

Clinical Psychologist Dr. Rachael Swopes treats patients at CMH’s Butterfield Park Pediatrics and Southside Medical Center. She earned a doctorate in clinical psychology from the University of Tulsa.

The Missouri Board of Healing Arts elected Dr. Benjamin Lampert, a Mercy pain management physician, to serve as president. His term runs through June 30, 2015.

CoxHealth selected its 2014-15 campaign committee for the Children’s Miracle Network. The 17-member committee will serve through the end of the annual telethon, broadcast May 30–31. This year’s committee members are: Sean Kraemer, president of McLane Ozark; John Schaefer, president and chief operating officer of Ozarks Coca-Cola/Dr Pepper Bottling Co.; Jennifer Jackson, publisher at SBJ Publishing Inc.; Mike Farquhar, president and chief operations officer at EFCO Corp.; Patti Penny, founder of Penmac Staffing Services Inc.; Ryan Kruger, Walgreens district manager; Thomas Douglas, owner and CEO of JMark Business Solutions Inc.; Doug Neff, chairman and CEO of Commerce Bank-Springfield Region; Lina Robertson Jones, an owner/agent at Re/Max Solutions; Shaun Burke, president and CEO of Guaranty Federal Bancshares Inc.; Todd Sherman, plant manager at Kraft Foods; Dennis Heim, president of Heim, Young & Associates; Michael Miller, managing partner of Lowther Johnson Attorneys at Law LLC; Brian McDonough, president and general manager of  KY3 Inc.; Jeff Barnard, market manager for Wal-Mart Stores Inc.; Thane Kifer, CEO and chairman of the board at Farmers State Bank; and Rex Hansen, vice president and general manager of Journal Broadcast Group.

Mercy Springfield Communities recently added several members to its staff.

Nurse practitioner Danielle Lee joined Mercy Children’s Urgent Care-Smith Glynn Callaway. Lee received her bachelor’s in nursing from Mercy School of Nursing and her master’s in nursing and family nurse practitioner from Cox College.

Dr. Gary Mehlhorn and Dr. Adam Carver joined Mercy Clinic Eye Specialists’ ophthalmology surgery center. Mehlhorn received his medical education and completed his ophthalmology residency at the University of Tennessee-Memphis. Carver was educated at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences-Little Rock.

Dr. Lindsey Reichert-Gully joined Mercy Clinic psychology. She received her doctorate of clinical psychology from Forest Institute of Professional Psychology.[[In-content Ad]]
