When it comes to banking, keeping it local has become a popular option, and when it comes to local, no one knows the Springfield community better than Wood & Huston Bank. With a strong track record of personal service and banking expertise, 2014 promises to be a big year for Wood & Huston. Not only will they be celebrating their 140th birthday, the Springfield branch will be celebrating 20 years in the community.

It’s not just the milestones that will make 2014 a big year, it’s also because of other changes the bank has recently made.  With 140 years in business, the executives at Wood & Huston are always focused on the long-term plan.  As part of their forward-thinking approach, Wood & Huston recently hired Jeff Johnson to take the helm as Community Bank President in Springfield, while former president Carol Carlson stays on board. Carlson has moved away from the management tasks at the bank to focus on business development and to provide existing customers the same kind of attention and service they are used to.

“I don’t have any immediate plans to retire,” Carlson said. “At some point in the next year or so, I would like to go part time, but I want to work with my customers for as long as I can.”

The addition of Johnson isn’t the only change the Bank has made. Longtime employee, Jessica Smith, was also promoted to Real Estate Lender.  “In meeting with all of the employees I realized Jessica has already been doing the job for quite a while now.  Promoting her just made sense and gives her the ability to focus on it full time while helping us better serve the community” Johnson said.

“Service is everything at Wood & Huston, its not just talk,” Johnson added. “It means serving our customers in all of our markets and that commitment is chief among everything that we do.”

While times are changing and technology is driving many new products and banking channels, Wood & Huston isn’t being left behind. The emphasis on technology and delivering the same great conveniences to their customers that their larger counterparts do is just another part of their focus on customer service. With mobile check deposit, personal and business online banking, and instant debit cards, Wood & Huston’s customers have access to the industry’s cutting edge products. The bank has also remained competitive with a variety of personal and business banking options, competitive loans, investments, and trust services products.

“This is a family owned bank that has been providing excellent products and service for almost 140 years,” Johnson said. “We work hard for our customers every day, we know our community, and we want to help people with all of their financial needs.”
