Stainless Technology to expand, add 88 jobs

Posted online
Stainless steel tank manufacturer Stainless Technology announced this morning its plans to add up to 75,000 square feet to its Springfield facility at 4420 E. Mustard Way, in the Partnership Industrial Center.

The multimillion-dollar, multiphase capital investment would create up to 88 new jobs, according to a news release.

A division of Bethlehem, Pa.-based ABEC Inc., Stainless Technology produces tanks and vessels for use in the biopharmaceutical industry. Spurred by a growth in sales, the expansion effort was assisted by Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce and Springfield Business Development Corp. staff who helped secure the jobs and investment for Springfield after a competition with another ABEC plant in Pennsylvania, according to the release.

“The Springfield community has been very responsive to the needs of our growing company,” said Scott Pickering, president and CEO of ABEC, in the release. “We are looking forward to working with local partners to expand our facility, recruit candidates for these new job openings, and ultimately, make the quality products our customers are seeking.”

The new jobs created by Stainless Technology’s expansion will pay above Greene County average wage of $36,398 and will more than double the company’s current workforce of 69 employees. Chamber and workforce development staff are providing assistance to ensure Stainless Technology is able to attract skilled workers to fill the new positions.

Earlier this year, chamber staff also assisted Tank Components Industries with an expansion into PIC West, a new 81,000-square-foot facility and the creation of 27 jobs during the next five years.[[In-content Ad]]
