Project description: Developer Earl Steinert has found a home for Springfield’s third Hampton Inn hotel. After unsuccessfully pursuing sites on East Republic Road and near the Mercy Orthopedic Hospital at Highway 65 and Evans Road the last two years, Steinert purchased 3.65 acres at Battlefield Road and Highway 65. Proposed zoning changes at the other properties were denied by Springfield City Council following neighborhood concerns about the hotel towering over homes. The five-story Hampton Inn includes 106 rooms, a conference room and an indoor pool.
