Mission Statement:

To promote a barrier-free environment for all individuals with disabilities through public education and advocacy for social change, and to provide a full range of independent living services to assist each in meeting his or her goals for independence.

Service Area:

Southwest Missouri counties served are Christian, Dallas, Greene, Lawrence, Polk, Stone, Taney and Webster, which include Springfield and Branson offices.

 

Funding:

Southwest Center for Independent Living is partially state and federally funded, Missouri Medicaid, grants, special event fundraisers and donations from businesses and private individuals.

Goals: 

SCIL gives choices and empowerment for people with disabilities to live independently.  Since 1985, SCIL has assisted individuals of all ages, with any disability and their families to find answers to solve problems with physical barriers, social security, family services, legal issues, safety, education, Medicaid, Medicare, financial assistance and much more.  SCIL offers services such as information and referral, advocacy, life skills, peer support, and youth services at no charge.  For low income individuals SCIL offers adaptive equipment, home modifications and home accessibility services.  SCIL offers personal care services through consumer directed services and in-home services so individuals can remain in their homes through Medicaid, private pay and Veterans benefits as well.

Independent Living Rally; Adaptive Spring Turkey Hunt; Youth “Evening of Enchantment Prom”; Day at the Range; Day at the Lake; RAMP CAMP; Price Cutter Charity Championship golf tournament; Adaptive Fall Deer Hunt.
