To say that 2009 and 2010 were hard on construction would be an understatement. It was a tough period for most businesses, and many struggled simply to tread water. Nonresidential construction was especially hard hit, but Bill Nesbitt stayed the course, and as the industry begins its recovery and forecasts are positive for 2012, Nesbitt Construction is staying busy doing what they do best.

“The economy caused us to make some cuts, and we have to be very frugal with our assets,” Bill Nesbitt says. “We really feel like we have seen the worst of it. We are still here and we are looking to the future.”

Nesbitt Construction was founded in 1977 with $2,500 and a dream. Nesbitt worked his way through college and graduated with a degree in Industrial Technology. After working five years as a construction supervisor and general manager, he was promoted to vice president and transitioned over to form his own company.

“I decided that personal supervision was what was missing from the construction business and have made every effort to deliver good supervision and quality workmanship on every project we have done,” Nesbitt says. “We sell personal service and work hard every day and give just a little bit more to make each project the best that it can be.”

Nesbitt's son Michael has joined him in the family business, and in the past 10 years has worked his way up to vice president of the company, and according to Nesbitt, plays an integral part in the business. “Michael is setting the pace for the new market. He is LEED Certified and recently completed Leadership Springfield. He will keep us moving into the future.”

Specializing in commercial construction and remodeling, Michael sees a great opportunity for Nesbitt Construction and Springfield as a community. “Sustainability and energy efficiency are top priorities for my generation and I feel it’s imperative that we integrate these concepts into the work we do, especially on outdated buildings.”

“We like to do new construction and build shiny new buildings, but the challenges of remodeling old buildings and bringing them back to life is exciting too,” Bill Nesbitt added. “Whether it’s new construction or renovation, we set the bar higher and offer service and solutions to meet the customer's needs at a price they can afford.”

It isn’t just Nesbitt’s drive and determination to provide superior service to his customers that has made Nesbitt Construction a success, it is also the hard work of his employees. “We take care of our employees and they help us take care of our customers. Our company is small enough to take care of the customer and big enough to do the work.”[[In-content Ad]]
