On August 20, 1977, Lynn Morris opened Family Pharmacy and filled 12 prescriptions. Today, with 24 retail pharmacies, 2 home medical supply stores and 2 nursing home pharmacies throughout southern Missouri, Morris and his staff fill between 7,500 and 10,000 per day. Family Pharmacy, a Top 100 U.S. Drug Store Chain, remains family owned and operated, and does much more than fill prescriptions, in fact, their primary focus is on wellness.

“We’ve evolved to be more than just a place for people to come when they get sick, today, people come here to stay well,” Morris says. “People want to feel younger, live longer, and be healthy, and we want to have things to help them accomplish that.”

Morris began focusing on wellness years ago, and with a full-time wellness director on staff, he offers the very best in wellness and holistic care products with a full selection of over the counter medications and supplements. Family Pharmacy also employs respiratory therapists, registered nurses, mobility specialists and more, to provide personalized services that include medication and nutritional supplement counseling, health screenings, blood pressure checks, blood glucose screenings, cholesterol screenings, flu, shingles and pneumonia vaccinations, Medicare Part D advisement, and sleep apnea screenings.

Family Pharmacy also works to help people stay in their homes longer through their Home Medical Supply division with home modifications. With a team of licensed professionals, the company helps customers live independently and navigate their homes safely, offering everything from the installation of grab bars to total renovations. The company also offers home medical equipment with a complete line of home medical supplies, ostomy supplies, compression therapy products, and custom fitted diabetic shoes, in addition to selling or renting hospital beds, walkers, wheelchairs and lift chairs.

“Building relationships and customer service is, and has always been, our top priority,” Morris says. “We want to provide total service, and treat our customers like family, with dignity and respect. Our customers are important to us, and we will do whatever it takes to make sure they have what they need at every stage in their lives.”

While Family Pharmacy has grown considerably over the years, Morris doesn't have any plans of slowing down. Construction is underway on a specialty pharmacy in Ozark, which will provide prescription support for people in high-end disease states. The new facility will also house a vaccine travel center for international travelers, and a compounding pharmacy.

Ultimately, it’s about giving back to his customers and the community that drives Morris. Whether through continually expanding services, or through fundraising for local charities with an outdoor concert series at Cruisin’ USA, Lynn Morris and his entire team work hard to make sure that Family Pharmacy stays true to the communities that have supported them through the years.
