Game Changers: Erick Taylor

In August 2010, Pyramid Foods redefined area grocery stores, bringing a big-city vibe to downtown Springfield with its smaller, hipper, community focused Bistro Market by Price Cutter. At the controls was Erick Taylor, CEO of the Pyramid Foods grocery store holding company. At the time of the Bistro Market opening, Taylor predicted $10 million in annual store sales and scoring profitability in Year 1. A recent renovation of the Price Cutter at south Kansas Expressway and Republic Road to fit the bistro model and other grocery companies – including industry giant Wal-Mart – following suit with their own takes on the community-centric store signals an area trend that could have staying power.
