Game Changers: Brad Pitt

Posted online
This Springfield native and Kickapoo High School graduate is recognized globally as one of Hollywood’s biggest film stars. After leaving the University of Missouri-Columbia in the late 1980s, Pitt picked up guest roles on shows such as “Dallas” before breaking into a supporting gig in the film, “Thelma & Louise.” He went on to star in “Seven,” “12 Monkeys,” “Fight Club” and “Ocean’s Eleven,” and even brought a Hollywood premiere home to Springfield in 1998 with “Meet Joe Black.” Pitt was twice named People Magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive, and he has received two Academy Award nominations and won a Golden Globe for “12 Monkeys.” Known for his involvement in a number of charitable organizations, he helped fund the start of the Care to Learn Fund in 2008, which provides needed clothes and meals for Springfield area school children.
