Game Changers: Norman Myers

Posted online
With founding president Norman Myers at the head, Ozarks Technical Community College got its start in September 1991 with 1,198 students in Springfield. Under his administration ending with his mid-2006 retirement, the school grew to about 9,000 students, from 35 full-time staff to 385 employees and from a $1.5 million operating budget to $35.5 million. Myers oversaw more than $40 million in campus development. The push for affordable secondary education via OTC has proved fruitful for southwest Missouri. In a study performed by Moscow, Ind.-based Economic Modeling Specialists Inc., OTC – which now has 13,000 students – was shown to have an annual economic impact of nearly $212 million.
