Northside Dental Clinic Dr. Derek Kaelin purchased two Springfield dental clinics Feb. 8 from Dr. Houston Ker for an undisclosed amount. Ker sold the 4,100-square-foot, 35-year-old Northside Dental Clinic, 2105 W. Kearney St., and its 2,800-square-foot, 15-year-old satellite location, James River Dental Clinic, 4205 S. Nature Center Way. Both clinics provide cosmetic dentistry, dentures and implants, said Assistant Manager Sheri Williams. Kaelin, who has practiced dentistry in Springfield since 2003, was a former partner of Parkcrest Dental Group and began working for Ker’s practice in August. Williams said Ker had sought a buyer for a few years as he approaches retirement. Ker remains on staff and continues to see patients. Hours: 8 a.m.–5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Sumit Hot Yoga Employees Stephanie Lael and Nikki Adkins purchased Sumit Hot Yoga at 610 E. Battlefield Road, Ste. E, from Steve Monroe on Dec. 15 for an undisclosed amount. The single-room studio accommodates up to 60 people, Lael said. The owners lease the building from James Wehr for an undisclosed amount. Two community classes are offered for $5 a week, and customers pay $99 a month for unlimited classes. Adkins and Lael, who have worked at Sumit Hot Yoga since July 2009, are certified in Sumit Yoga by creator Sumit Banerjee in Scottsdale, Ariz, Lael said. Simmons Beautyrest Sleep Gallery Keith and Ursula James opened a third area Simmons Beautyrest Sleep Gallery on Feb. 15 at 3645 E. Sunshine St. Specializing in Simmons Beautyrest and Tempur-pedic mattress brands, the store fills space formerly occupied by State Beauty Supply, which relocated. The Jameses lease from Gardner Properties of Springfield LLC and operate Simmons Beautyrest Sleep Gallery stores at 650 E. Battlefield Road, Ste. A, and in Hollister and Columbia.
