Ziggie's opens downtown café and pub today

Posted online
There's a new dining option in downtown Springfield today with the opening of the 14th Ziggie's restaurant.

The downtown eatery at 319 W. Walnut St. will be open 6 a.m.-2 p.m. Sundays through Tuesdays and 24 hours on Wednesdays through Saturdays, according to a news release from the Urban Districts Alliance. It will be the fourth Ziggie's with a bar.

The restaurant will offer several breakfast specials, a full bar and a 100-seat patio with Tiki bar. New appetizers, sandwiches and salads already have been added to the menu, and Ziggie's will participate in the Dinner & a Movie promotion, which allows customers to buy discount tickets to Hollywood Theaters College Station Stadium 14 and Moxie Cinema with the purchase of an entrée.

"We've been looking for a location downtown for a long time," said Manager Scott Bussard said in the release. "We looked at pretty much half the properties down here, even the new ones. We liked this location even when it was the Rasta Grill, and the outdoor patio is amazing."

The location at the corner of Campbell Avenue and Walnut Street previously was Bailey's American Grille, which closed in January.

Attempts to reach Bussard for comment were unsuccessful.[[In-content Ad]]
