What is the average length of employment among staff, and what fosters such loyalty?
“We are often celebrating co-workers who have been here 20 years, and in many cases much longer. This is exciting and speaks to our culture and professional career paths we offer. As we continue to grow and hire new co-workers, we look forward to the talents and skills they will bring with them. It is the relationship Mercy co-workers have with the patients, mission, values and each other that continues to foster loyalty.”

What innovative ways have you developed to reward employees?
“Mercy has developed a co-worker recognition program known as Mercy Rewards. Mercy Rewards’ credits are awarded through a variety of systemwide recognition opportunities. One reward point is the equivalent of $1. A couple of examples include on-the-spot recognition, where leaders have the ability to recognize co-workers who have gone above and beyond the Mercy spirit, mission and values; and monthly Spirit Day drawings where each month co-workers can enter into drawings for prizes.”

What is the most celebrated perk among your staff?
“In practical terms, the most celebrated and utilized benefit is the Mercy medical plan. The plan is designed to assist co-workers in maintaining a healthy and balanced lifestyle and to help protect co-workers financially. Preventative care is 100 percent covered with no out of pocket or deductible required.Mercy co-workers celebrate many perks. For example, co-workers receive discounted rates at our Mercy pharmacy, cafeteria and discounts at many area businesses. The most celebrated perk, however, might be a draw between our co-worker store and the co-worker clinic. The co-worker store contains many items such as gift cards, season passes to Silver Dollar City, diapers and movie rentals. You also can drop off your dry cleaning, as well as leave your car keys so your car gets an oil change while the co-worker is at work.

The co-worker clinic provides easy access to co-workers seeking medical treatment while at work. Many co-workers have reported that having this easy access and receiving the care they need quickly has prevented missed days from work.”

How does your company support employees’ desires to give back to the community?
“A tradition of philanthropy is also at the core of our history. Desiring to right wrongs, the Force for Good’s objective is to provide funds for a defined and specified purpose. Since 2003, the Force for Good campaign has raised more than $1 million to benefit individuals served by local nonprofit agencies, including The Kitchen Medical Clinic, Care to Learn through Springfield Public Schools, Springfield PTA Clothing Bank, Missouri Ozarks Community Action Agency, Victory Mission, Isabelle’s House, Court Appointed Special Advocates, the Child Advocacy Center and Ozarks Food Harvest.”[[In-content Ad]]
