CMH cements deal with Sac-Osage Hospital

Posted online
Bolivar-based Citizens Memorial Healthcare cemented an affiliation agreement this week with the closing Sac-Osage Hospital in Osceola.

Under the agreement, effective Sept. 24, CMH will open a medical clinic in November in Sac-Osage's former Tri-County Clinic building and take over the Osceola health system's ambulance service operations, as well as purchase an additional ambulance to add to its current fleet of two. CMH also would open a rehab center in SOH's former family dentistry building in Osceola, according to a news release.

The purchase agreement includes $415,000 for SOH's clinic and ambulatory assets, as well as $250,000 for real estate.

CMH takes over certain aspects of SOH, whose board of directors voted earlier this year to close the hospital Sept. 15.

"I believe that CMH will be able to provide all of the services that the community really needs, plus this will give the community access to specialty care that they have not had previously,” SOH CEO Chris Smiley said in the release.

Though a timeline is not set, CMH plans to build a new facility in the city for added services and additional space for medical providers.

CMH named Eran Dawson as clinic manager for its Osceola operations. Dawson previously served as the coordinator and certified application counselor at CMH, most recently working as the health system's coordinator-assistant buyer for materials management, according to the release.[[In-content Ad]]
