Entrepreneurs to compete at chamber pitch event

Posted online
Four entrepreneurs will compete as finalists during a pitch competition at the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce's Oct. 2 B2B Expo.

Selected by the chamber, the Creative Foundry, Missouri State University eFactory and microincubator Originate, the finalists of the Go Big event will compete for a $5,000 cash prize, as well as six months of free rent and services at The eFactory, according to a news release.

The finalists are:
  • Inspxtr, a company founded by Brandon Freeman to improve the monitoring of water and wastewater systems using newer technology to replace outdated systems;
  • Panda Laundry Factory, a startup by Samson Yi attempting to reinvent the wash and fold laundry industry using computer software and mechanical automation;
  • Safe Food for Me, a searchable resource founded by Tylor Hindery for individuals with dietary restrictions, which utilizes a Web-based application; and
  • Share a Gig, a company founded by Matthew Thomas to bring gigabit Internet access to residents and businesses in urban markets at lower costs, starting with downtown Springfield.
The winner will be chosen based on the scalability and originality of the company's product or venture, as well as potential economic impact and whether the idea is at a stage where it can be implemented, chamber spokeswoman Maggie Kost said via email.

The chamber's annual expo is scheduled 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Springfield Expo Center, 636 E. St. Louis St.[[In-content Ad]]
