Contractors to lay final beam at Cox South tower

Posted online
General contractors The Beck Group (Dallas) and Killian Construction Co. are slated to lay the final concrete beam at the Cox South patient tower during a ceremony scheduled Thursday.

At 2 p.m. at the construction site, 3801 S. National Ave., the ceremony will include a signing of the beam by employees, followed by the ceremonial hoisting of the beam with a small evergreen tree and American flag attached, according to a news release.

The $130 million, 10-story patient tower is expected to open in May, in line with previous projections.

The 343,000-square-foot project is funded by $200 million in bonds CoxHealth issued in April 2013, according to Springfield Business Journal archives.[[In-content Ad]]
