Mo. unemployment rate drops

Missouri's August unemployment rate dropped two-tenths of a point to 6.3 percent compared to the previous month, according to the state Department of Economic Development.

Despite the seasonally adjusted jobless rate decrease,  Missouri's nonfarm payroll dropped by 3,100 jobs last month. August employment losses were led by the durable goods manufacturing, health care and social assistance industries, according to a news release.

Over the last year, Missouri's nonfarm payroll employment has increased by 49,100 jobs, according to the DED.

The U.S. unemployment rate ticked down a tenth of a point to 6.1 percent in August.[[In-content Ad]]
