$10M TownePlace Suites opening delayed

The opening of the $10 million TownePlace Suites by Marriott hotel kitty-corner to Mercy Hospital Springfield has been delayed closer to the end of the month.

The five-story, 110-unit hotel, 2009 S. National Ave. - which had been scheduled to open for business tomorrow - is now likely to open Sept. 29 as crews put the finishing touches on the interior of the property, including painting and room setup, said Robert Babst, the hotel's general manager. Minor exterior work such as landscaping also remains.

The 70,000-square-foot hotel is designed to accommodate longer staying guests with studio, one- and two-bedroom suites with kitchens, as well as separate living/working spaces and sleeping areas. Owned by RTT Hospitality LLC and managed by O'Reilly Hospitality Management LLC, the hotel represents a partnership between Rita Baron of architecture firm Baron Design & Associates LLC, Terry Reynolds of C. Arch Bay Co. and Tim O’Reilly of O’Reilly Hospitality.

General contractor Larry Snyder & Co. broke ground on the hotel in March 2013. The property is designed by Baron Design & Associates to meet Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design-Silver standards.[[In-content Ad]]
