Insurance agency Barker Phillips Jackson Inc. completed the purchase of a West Plains firm, adding to its existing business in the city.

On June 30, the Springfield company acquired West Plains Insurance from owner Ron Murray, who has stayed on as a producer, said President and CEO Tom Montileone, who declined to disclose purchase terms.

"He was needing some additional markets and services and support to be able to take care of his clients the way he wanted to. It worked well for Ron, his clients and Barker Phillips Jackson," Montileone said. "By consolidating his agency into BPJ, he was able to gain the services that we offer."

With its acquisition by BPJ, West Plains Insurance clients will be offered a variety of commercial insurance services, including property, workers' comp, employee benefits and personal insurance.

With headquarters in Springfield since 1960, BPJ also operates a satellite office in Rolla. BPJ employes five in West Plains, including Murray, and 47 companywide, Montileone said.
