Posted online
Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon last week appointed two Springfield leaders to state commissions.

Springfield Metropolitan Bar Association Executive Director Crista Hogan was appointed to the Public Defender Commission for a term ending July 16, 2020, according to a news release.

The commission hires the state public defender director and works on rules needed for the administration of the state public defender system.

Hogan's appointment is subject to Missouri Senate approval.

Nixon also appointed Gary Maddox, executive director of the Southwest Center for Independent Living, to the Missouri Statewide Independent Living Council, according to the release.

For a term ending Oct. 29, 2016, Maddox will work on the council that develops and submits Missouri's grant and rehabilitation plan required by the federal Rehabilitation Act. The plan authorizes grant programs of vocational rehabilitation, supported employment, independent living and client assistance.[[In-content Ad]]
