Price Cutter to open new store this week

Posted online
Price Cutter plans to open a new store this week at one of the former Dillons facilities it purchased late last year.

The 56,000-square-foot former Dillons at 1260 St. Louis St. replaces Price Cutter’s 40,000-square-foot store at 1730 S. Campbell Ave. It is scheduled to open April 1, according to a news release.

“We are working hard to earn your business and have expanded our warehouse to increase our buying power so as to provide customers with better prices,” Price Cutter President and CEO Erick Taylor said in the release.

The store will offer a full line of groceries, as well as Starbucks coffee and its selection of to-go sandwiches, salads, chicken and sushi. The company also operates a Price Cutter Express fuel center on the property.

The St. Louis Street store also represented a change for the Price Cutter-owned Bistro Market in downtown Springfield. Officials removed the store’s salad bar and grill and pared down its grocery selection, with the intent of moving the services to the new store, according to Springfield Business Journal archives.

Price Cutter occupied the first of four former Dillons stores in February when it opened on West Kearney Street. With the addition, Price Cutter officials closed the 20,000-square-foot store at 717 W. Commercial St. on Feb. 8.

The company has not announced its plans for the 1707 W. Battlefield Road and 2843 E. Sunshine St. Dillons stores it acquired when the Kansas-based supermarket chain made the decision to leave the market. The four Dillons stores in Springfield closed in December.[[In-content Ad]]
