Hotel Vandivort owners hire management team

Posted online
Hotel Vandivort owners Billy and John McQueary hired the management team for their downtown redevelopment project.

The siblings brought on board a general manager, director of sales and marketing and an executive chef, who are preparing for the June opening of the 50-room boutique hotel and restaurant at 305 E. Walnut St., according to a news release.

James Roberts, who moved back to Missouri from Florida, will serve as general manager for the hotel. While in the Sunshine State, Roberts held leadership roles at the Emerald Grande at HarborWalk Village in Destin; Hotel Duval - Autograph Collection in Tallahassee; and Wyndham Vacation Resorts in Destin and Panama City Beach.

Returning to Springfield from Lincoln, Neb., is Nancy Johnson, who signed on as sales director. She most recently worked as director of sales for Holiday Inn Lincoln Southwest, and has past Springfield experience in sales, human resources and catering at Comfort Inn & Suites and Courtyard by Marriott, according to the release.

Zach White will serve as executive chef for the hotel’s in-house restaurant, The Order. In addition to overseeing the selection of locally sourced products, he’ll manage food and beverages throughout the hotel, including banquet events, private dining and a chef’s table event. White has past experience at Springfield’s Touch Restaurant, Flame Steakhouse, Clary’s and Fish.

Through MBH LLC, the McQuearys are remodeling the 107-year-old building with the help of a City Council-approved, 25-year tax abatement on property improvements. Members of the McQueary Drug Co. family, the brothers bought the property in September 2012 from Scott Tillman, according to Springfield Business Journal archives.

Designed to meet Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design-Gold standards, the hotel is managed by IDM Hospitality Management, according to the release.[[In-content Ad]]
