Joshua Hartman has worked as a financial adviser and investment specialist for the last three years, the last six months of which have been with Arvest Asset Management, handling 401(k) plans, trusts and other investment accounts.
In 2000, Hartman was a senior consultant with Accenture LLC in Chicago, leading teams of analysts through project phases of software implementation.
Three years later, Hartman moved to Springfield and went to work with SRC Great Game of Business as director of business development.
For three and a half years, he cross-trained and developed his work experience through positions with SRC Heavy Duty and SRC Quest Manufacturing before landing at Banc of America Investment Services in 2007.
“I do not want to regret not trying something, especially something for which I have a passion,” says Hartman, whose undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame is in communications and theater. “I’ve dealt with Shakespeare, software, steel and stocks. I’ve led a team of 14 college-educated software engineers and a team of salespeople with high school diplomas, and I’ve found in every industry that enthusiasm is contagious, respecting others is essential and hard work is rewarded.”
Hartman is most proud of his personal triumph over cancer. His perseverance and positive attitude served as an example for friends, family and co-workers, and the experience continues to impact his outlook on life and leadership.
“I believe that regardless of my own doubts and fears, (those around me) fed off my strength and optimism I displayed in spite of the odds facing me,” Hartman says. “Keeping sight of the goal and focusing on what can be controlled were tremendous lessons that helped me through a challenging time and continue to serve as valuable leadership lessons in overcoming obstacles.”
A self-described “tremendous supporter” of continuing education and self-improvement, Hartman tries to instill a joy for learning in his co-workers.
He also is passionate about his community involvement. He is a member of Leadership Springfield Class XXI. He has volunteered with the American Cancer Society and United Way’s Day of Caring, organized a fundraiser for Gillioz Theatre through the Springfield Landmarks Preservation Board and is a board member for Big Brothers Big Sisters of The Ozarks Inc.
“I want to be considered an individual who can be counted on to bring my varied personal and professional experiences to bear in helping create a better city for all of us,” Hartman says.[[In-content Ad]]
