Reckitt Benckiser hiring for Springfield plant

Posted online
British consumer goods manufacturer Reckitt Benckiser Group (LON: RB) plans to interview at least 150 people this week as it seeks to add jobs to its Springfield workforce at Partnership Industrial Center.

Springfield Communication Coordinator Megan Short said the first 150 applicants for material handler positions would be interviewed June 9 at the Missouri Job Center office, 2900 E. Sunshine St. The local job center and the Ozark Region Workforce Development Board are hosting the hiring event for Reckitt Benckiser and The French's Food Co., which the former owns.

“They’re having a strong need for the position,” Short said, noting she was unsure how many the company actually would hire.

The event is scheduled  9 a.m.-noon on June 9.

A Reckitt Benckiser spokeswoman could not be reached for comment by deadline.

Call centers
Reckitt Benckiser isn’t the only company seeking new employees this week.

Both Expedia Inc. (Nasdaq: EXPE) and Chase Card Services will hold hiring events this week.

Expedia plans to fill 35 global operations openings, adding to the company’s over 900 employees at its call center housed in the former Springfield-Branson National Airport terminal, said recruiter Meg Comte.

The hiring event is scheduled 9 a.m.-6 p.m. today at Hilton Garden Inn, 4155 S. Nature Center Way.

The Missouri Job Center and Ozark Region Workforce Development Board will host an event for Chase at its mobile career center outside the call center, 303 E. Republic Road. The event is scheduled 10 a.m.-2 p.m. tomorrow.

Short was unsure how many employees the company plans to hire, and a Chase recruiter could not be reached for comment by deadline.

As recently as 2011, the call center employed some 1,300.
