OTC launches new website
Monday, August 20, 2012 7:03 AM
Ozarks Technical Community College this morning went live with its new website, presenting a simplistic home page similar to that of Google.
home page features a logo and a search bar prominent in the center of the page. Other areas of the site also can be accessed via a navigational header and footer.
The idea for the new site came about after statistics showed that 80 percent of OTC's site visitors found information on the site through external Web searches or OTC's own Google search server. According to a news release, most users skipped links and information on the home page entirely, instead only using the search box.
“We wanted to cut through the obstacles and give our students, employees and community a simpler way to find what they need,” OTC Chancellor Hal Higdon said in the release. “The new site still has all of the information and resources, but without all the clutter.”
The site launch coincides with OTC's first day of fall classes.
