MSU board approves clinical relationship with Mercy

The Missouri State University Board of Governors today gave its approval to a clinical agreement between the school and Mercy, according to MSU President Clif Smart.

Under the agreement, the university would open a clinic dubbed MSU Care at its $14.1 million O’Reilly Clinical Health Sciences Center. Tweeting from the board’s daylong retreat at Shealy Farm near Fair Gove, Smart said the clinic is scheduled to open in October.

Mercy is tasked with clinical operations of the clinic and would provide around eight employees. The health system also would provide medication and medical supplies for the clinic’s use, as well as pharmaceuticals prescribed to patients, according to the MSU board agenda.

The primary care clinic would treat adults who are uninsured or ineligible for Medicaid or Medicare, as well as educational opportunities for the university’s College of Health and Human Services.
