Habitat For Humanity posts event fundraising record

Posted online
Habitat for Humanity of Springfield’s 12th annual Tool Belts & Bow Ties fundraiser was the best on record.

The $121,000 raised marked the highest-grossing event revenue in the organization’s history. It was $34,000 above last year’s event, according to a news release. This year’s campaign was held March 24.

“The support we received from sponsors and donors will allow us to give back to the community,” said Larry Peterson, executive director of Habitat for Humanity of Springfield, in the release.

Specifically, the funds will be used to build or repair a home for a low-income family in Greene County.

Keystone Building and Design was the main sponsor of the annual Tool Belts & Bow Ties event along with 61 community partners, according to the release.

An affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, the Springfield organization has since 1988 built or renovated over 490 homes, which provided shelter for nearly 1,000 people in Greene, Christian and Webster counties.
