H Design Group building $1.4M HQ

Springfield architecture firm H Design Group LLC is developing a new headquarters two lots north of its current office building.

Principal Brent Stevens said construction of the one-story, 8,400-square-foot building is scheduled to wrap around Feb. 1. Springfield general contractor Grindstone Construction LLC is building the $1.4 million office.

“The building that we’re in right now, we’ve continued to grow pretty steadily over the last 10 years,” Stevens said of the company’s 5051 S. National Ave. office. “We’re maxed out right now as far as employees are concerned in our current space.”

Stevens said H Design Group employs 16 and likely would hire more with the move.

H Design Group owns its 6,000-square-foot South National Avenue office and leases 1,200 square feet to O’Reilly Development Co. LLC. Stevens said the company has an undisclosed buyer for the building. He declined to disclose the purchase price for the deal expected to close Feb. 1. The property has a 2016 taxable appraised value of $423,000, according to the Greene County assessor’s website.

For the new office, ground work is underway. The company yesterday posted a time-lapse video on its Facebook page of workers laying concrete.
