Former American Inn up for auction at trustee’s sale

Posted online
A former American Inn in north Springfield is scheduled to hit the auction block next month.

The former hotel, 3550 E. Evergreen St., has a debt load of $1.4 million, according to a notice published in The Daily Events. It’s slated to be sold at 2 p.m. May 11 on the Greene County courthouse steps to the highest cash bidder.

The building on 6.2 acres had been owned by West Hills Missouri LLC, an organization founded by Samson Yi, who could not be reached for comment by deadline. Great Southern Bank called the note due and took over the property in September 2014, according to a Greene County recorder listing.

The property sits on the southeast corner of the Interstate 44 and U.S. Highway 65 interchange.

An entrepreneur, Yi in October 2014 pitched his automated laundry idea dubbed Panda Laundry Factory during the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce’s Go Big pitch competition. Gigabit Internet service provider Share a Gig won the competition for $5,000 in seed funding and six months of free rent at Missouri State University’s business incubator The eFactory.
