Springfield City Manager Greg Burris has scratched the interim title from Darla Morrison’s business cards.
Morrison starts today as the city’s permanent human resources director. She worked in the interim position since July 2016, when Sheila Maerz retired after holding the post for 18 years, according to a news release.
Previously, Morrison worked as the city’s senior human resources coordinator. She’s been with Springfield’s HR department since 1991.
“As we consider the new types of talent recruitment and retention challenges that all employers will experience over the next few decades, Darla has the skill set to develop the strategies the city will need to fiercely compete,” Burris said in the release.
As HR director, Morrison is in charge of talent recruitment for over 400 job classifications. She leads a team of 20 who hire, compensate and develop the city’s workforce.
The position’s salary is $110,000 per year, according to the release.
