Attorney general secures $1.4M from LCD settlements
Wednesday, August 15, 2012 7:08 AM
Missouri Attorney General Chris Koster's office this week secured more than $1.4 million in penalties from settlements with two foreign manufacturers of LCD screens.
The settlement funding from LG Display Co. Ltd. and AU Optronics Corp. brings the amount Koster's office has brought in for the state on the settlements to $2.2 million. In July,
he had settled with LG and AU, as well as several subsidiaries and Toshiba Corp., following allegations that the companies had engaged in price-fixing practices for flat-panel LCD screens.
"My office made it a priority to force LCD manufacturers who met with each other and agreed on prices to both compensate their victims and to pay a penalty for their illegal conduct,” Koster said in a news release. “In addition to the $2.2 million in penalty payments, consumers will also be able to receive compensation for having paid too much for certain LCD products.”
Consumers who want to file claims for restitution for LCD monitors, notebook computers and LCD televisions purchased Jan. 1, 1999-Dec. 31, 2006, can do so at
or by calling (855) 225-1886. At least $25 in restitution per customer filing a claim is expected. The deadline is Dec. 6.
