The Mentors Project: Larry Stock

Posted online
MENTEE
Michael Katrosh, general manager and executive vice president at Queen City Roofing & Sheet Metal

OBJECTIVE
Business and company succession. Also to assist Michael in personal and professional development and to help him develop leaders.

HOW
While we see each other daily, we take a one-hour session, once a week, for specific one-on-one mentoring and accountability discussion and checks.

CHALLENGES
The primary initial challenge actually was agreeing it was a priority and taking time out of the daily “fires” of normal operations, to plan, project and review, and to work on learning to lead others to become leaders.

BREAKTHROUGHS
Michael and I have had a strong relationship for many years. The breakthrough moment actually came when Michael realized the benefit of looking ahead into the future, and the long-term benefit of training and developing future leaders within our company

YOUR MENTOR
I did not have one. Perhaps that is one of the things that made me realize the true benefits of a mentor/mentee relationship.
