The Nixa Area Chamber of Commerce hired a new executive director to start later this month.

Effective Feb. 16, Tammy Mast will succeed Marc Truby, who resigned suddenly in December after three years at the helm.

“Tammy’s involvement in the Nixa community and chamber community allows her to step right in and hit the ground running in this new position,” said chamber board Chairwoman Beth Biondo, an area Little Caesars franchisee, in a news release.

Mast most recently worked as community relations director for nonprofit dental clinic Children’s Smile Center. A 2009 honoree of Springfield Business Journal’s Most Influential Women award and 2007 honoree of SBJ’s 40 Under 40, she has past experience as community liaison for Integrity Home Care and executive director of the GYN Cancers Alliance.

“My passion has always been to help others, especially the underserved community,” she said in the release. “Having been actively involved with seven area chambers, it has become convincingly evident to me that one of the best ways to make a difference is by strengthening the economic core of a community.”

In December, Biondo said the salary for the position would be around $40,000.

Truby started in mid-January as an account executive for Radiophone Engineering Inc.

"I was just looking for another opportunity," Truby said, noting he was not asked to resign at the Nixa chamber. "The board and I kind of parted ways and we separated."
