Springfield-Greene County’s Office of Emergency Management received a 100 percent compliance rating on its annual emergency operations plan review, conducted by a representative of the State Emergency Management Agency. OEM’s all-hazards plan is designed to coordinate community response to disaster.

Health Care
Family Pharmacy was recognized by the Healthcare Quality Association on Accreditation for demonstrating a high level of quality practices in business operations and patient care techniques.

Mercy Hospital Springfield received an A rating for patient safety in the Leapfrog Group’s Fall 2015 Hospital Safety Score. Of some 2,500 U.S. hospitals graded on errors, injuries, accidents and infections, 773 scored the highest level.

Insurance
Ollis/Akers/Arney was named a 2015 Best Practices Agency by the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America based on a review of the firm’s operating statistics. The firm was among 196 independent U.S. agencies to retain the Best Practices status.

Eve Penland was hired as a receptionist for Ollis/Akers/Arney. Licensed in life, accident and health insurance, she has experience in the insurance and manufacturing industries.

Nixon & Lindstrom Insurance hired Susan McFarland as an employee benefits customer service representative. She has 30 years of industry experience.

Heather DeVore joined Nixon & Lindstrom’s employee benefits department in Springfield.

Daryn Linton joined Connell Insurance’s information technology team as an off-site network administrator supporting its Hollister, Joplin and Springfield offices.

Connell also hired Amanda Adams and Jennica Chadwick as commercial account managers, Mikala Whitworth as a commercial account assistant and Kristen Baker as a group benefits account manager assistant.

Candida Arvizu joined Connell as an employee benefits and human resources consultant, and Crystal Viefhaus was named a human resources adviser.

Stephanie Bonsey was hired as an assistant in Connell’s commercial and operations department, Anita Ford joined the claims department, and Stephanie Daniels and Tammy Wiles were added to the firm’s benefits department.

Manufacturing
Springfield ReManufacturing Corp.’s Heavy Duty division was recertified as a VPP Star Site from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. The honor is the highest level in OSHA’s Voluntary Protection Program.
