Low chosen for Lifetime Achievement in Business

Posted online
Prime Inc. President and CEO Robert Low will receive Lifetime Achievement in Business honors during Springfield Business Journal’s 2017 Economic Impact Awards. The award recognizes excellence in business and impact on the community.

Low founded the trucking company 47 years ago in Urbana as a 19-year-old engineering student. The company grew from a one-truck operation to its current fleet in excess of 6,600 trucks, over 12,300 trailers and 4,700 people. Prime’s annual revenues also have increased each year since 1986, up to $1.63 billion last year.

Chosen by an independent panel of judges, the award is one of several presented during the 17th annual awards banquet, scheduled July 27 at the Oasis Hotel and Convention Center.

Hamra Enterprises will receive Philanthropic Business of the Year honors; Missouri Association of Manufacturers will be recognized as Business Advocate of the Year; Robert Roberts of Second Baptist Church will be honored as Community Involvement Champion; Paul Allen, founder of Farm2Counter Inc., will receive the Entrepreneur of the Year award; and The Child Advocacy Center Inc. will receive the Charitable Nonprofit of the Year award.

Economic Impact honors also will be announced in three categories based on years in business. Finalists, in alphabetical order, are:
    •    A hip joint Springfield LLC, Gilardi’s Ristorante and Hurts Donut Co., in the one to five years in business category;
    •    Burgess Aircraft Management LLC, MariCorp US LLC and Total Highspeed LLC, for the six to 15 years in business category;
    •    Integrity Home Care Inc., JMark Business Solutions Inc. and Penmac Staffing Services Inc., for 16 to 29 years in business; and
    •    Bass Pro Shops, College of the Ozarks and Mercy Springfield Communities for 30 or more years in business.

The Economic Impact Awards banquet begins at 5:30 p.m., July 27. Tickets are $65 apiece and available at SBJ.net/EIA.
