Askinosie Chocolate to debut at Target this week

Springfield’s Askinosie Chocolate LLC is scheduled to debut in Target Corp. (NYSE: TGT) stores on Sept. 6.

Askinosie Chocolate created three exclusive bars to sell at about 400 of the retailer’s stores for its its Made to Matter-Handpicked by Target initiative.

According to Askinosie.com, the closest Target store selling the bars is in Kansas City.

Sourced directly from cocoa farmers in Mababu, Tanzania, the bars are a plain dark chocolate; a dark chocolate with crushed almonds and vanilla; and a dark milk chocolate with goat’s milk, according to a news release.

The Springfield factory molded 2,653 kilos of chocolate in April for Target, according to Springfield Business Journal archives.
