In 2001, Jack Thurman was in the beginning stages of forming what would one day become the BKD Wealth Advisors powerhouse. Around $200 million in assets under management back then, the subsidiary of BKD LLP since has grown to $3.1 billion in assets under management. The 70-employee practice led by Thurman keeps a close eye on the assets of 1,000 families and 700 companies.

“It’s been a scratch of the head,” he says. “This is not something we designed to grow fast.”

Now married to Stacey for 33 years, the couple have three grown daughters, and they recently welcomed their first grandchild.
